me, max and pedro are doing a road trip this summer. max has a 1970s land rover series III with a rooftop tent - he’s driving up from the netherlands with his girlfriend kristiana, who’s visiting family in northern italy before flying home. pedro’s coming in from copenhagen. i’m taking the bus from luxembourg. we’re heading into the alps with no real plan, and i wanted a way to document it that wasn’t instagram. so i built a telegram bot. we send messages, photos, location pins and receipts into our group chat - the bot reads everything, figures out what it is, and pushes it to this site automatically. blog posts get tagged by time of day, expenses get split between us, locations get dropped on a map. receipts don’t go public, before you ask.
the whole thing updates live. no app, no login, just us sending stuff into a chat like we normally would, and this site quietly building itself in the background.
it’s called the insubrian because the romans called this part of northern italy insubria. felt right.
I leave june 8th.
pedro joins on the 9th.
after that, no fixed plan.
